From Thisisstaffordhire:
Leek CSOB officials are rubbing their hands after landing a plum opening-day home fixture against FC United. The club, formed by rebel Manchester United supporters following the Malcolm Glazer takeover at Old Trafford, will visit Harrison Park on Saturday, August 13 (3pm).
Old Boys secretary Stan Lockett said: "We don't know how many will attend the game. They have advised us to print at least 1,000 programmes.
"I will be talking to the local authority, Leek Town FC, and the police about the arrangements we will need to make for the game. Such has been the interest in Manchester, one FC United fan has not only sponsored the match ball, but the game as well."
The Harrison Park fixture has also attracted a lot of media attention and a record crowd for the league is expected. Last season the Old Boys had an average of 66, while their total gate for last season, 1,194, could be surpassed by this one match.
Joint-manager Chris McMullen said he is looking forward to the game.
"The fixture will generate a lot of interest and it will be a great occasion for our players. The breakaway group has received a lot of attention and this opening game should generate a big crowd."
FC United spokesman Jules Spencer said the club had more than 4,000 members.
"There is a tremendous amount of support and goodwill from the fans, but at the moment we just don't know how many will travel to the game.
"We don't want to be a big fish in a small pool, but are grateful to clubs for accepting us into the league. We are looking to make a lot of friends wherever we play and are looking forward to this opening fixture in Leek."
