Leeds have brought in accountants from Ernst & Young to help
the club stay in business. This latest attempt in the battle
to stay afloat has seen their finance director and chief
operating officer leave with immediate effect.
LEEDS IN MORE TROUBLE
The move was announced in a statement to the stock exchange,
which also suggested that more players would have to leave
Elland Road in the summer:
“The board has now identified annualised cost savings of
some £5m in total. These will be implemented as soon as
practicable and will be significant for the next financial
year. This will include a cull of middle management and non-
playing staff in the company who have enjoyed a range of
perks, including 76 company cars, and is also likely to see
a summer clearout of playing staff.”
