From the Guardian:
Brian Kidd has been unveiled as Sven-Goran Eriksson's latest recruit to the
England coaching set-up.
Kidd, who will continue to be a coach at Leeds, has been chosen in th
e part-time role as a replacement for Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren.
Eriksson revealed it had become clear that Kidd was the "obvious choice" to
replace McClaren after talks with some of his players, including Beckham.
The England coach told the FA's website:
"Brian is a very good coach, first and foremost. He already has international
experience and that made him an ideal candidate. Secondly, he knows more
than half of the players in the squad and is very popular among the players."
"Naturally, we had some other names to consider but, talking to a lot of
people, including some of the players, and listening to what they had to say,
he became the obvious choice and I am very happy about that."
