'The former Manchester United assistant manager and senior England coach was diagnosed with prostate cancer last April.
But one of Manchester's favourite sons is now raring to get back to the only work he knows after finally being given a clean bill of health.
"The treatment I received has been successful and I've been told that I can get on with the rest of my life," says Kidd. "And that's exactly what I intend to do. I am back running and playing golf and I've also been putting a few hours in down at the gym. I feel fit and well and ready for work after this long rest. It's as much a relief for my wife Margaret as it is for myself because she's made a point of telling me on a daily basis recently that I've been getting under her feet."
"I wouldn't even rule out going back to where it all started and working for a club's community programme as I did in my early years at Old Trafford.
"I can still remember when I was doing that job for United how much help and support I received from head teachers throughout the region. I found it very rewarding and satisfying and I wouldn't say "no" to another job like that, providing the set-up was well organised.
"The main thing is I'm fit and well and open for business again. I have lots of messages wishing me well over the past few months from both United and City fans, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their kindness. But as the missus keeps pointing out, I've been at home long enough now."
