Sunday Times:
Keep it under your hat. Authorites in Holland have attempted to ban the wearing of orange replica Nazi helmets at football matches — and sales have subsequently trebled. The novelty items in the national team’s colour originally appeared at games between Holland and Germany, and look likely to be in evidence again at Germany 2006 despite the Dutch FA’s best efforts.
Juan Roman Riquelme:
"I don't think Rooney is as good as Messi. Messi is in excellent form at the moment and playing some great football.
He has a different style to most players.
"I like him a lot and I think he is on the way to becoming the best in the world.
"Wayne Rooney is a very good youngster, but he is not Lionel Messi."
Sunday Mirror:
Jens Lehmann has promised to get right behind a protest campaign by registered German prostitutes.
The hookers have asked the Germany players to back them in blocking an invasion by 40,000 foreign prostitutes. Only the Arsenal goalie has responded.
Katharina Cetin, from the Centre for Prositution in Berlin, said: "We asked the German Football Federation and the national team to cooperate but they've refused.
"Jens is the only decent man to stick up for these women.
"He has promised us he will ask his team-mates again if they will get right behind us."
