Roy Keane is considering a testimonial against Celtic at Old Trafford in May, but sources close to the player insisted yesterday that no date had yet been set, writes Dion Fanning.
Some travel agents have been offering packages to a testimonial on May 9 but that is only one of the dates being considered by Keane and his advisers - if he decides to have a testimonial.
Those close to Keane are aware that he will be criticised if he is seen to benefit financially. Newcastle will play Celtic in Alan Shearer's testimonial on May 11 and he has already agreed to donate all proceeds to charity. Keane will do something similar but he has never been comfortable with the grand public gesture, ridiculing Niall Quinn as "Mother Teresa" around the time Quinn was praised for raising funds for charity through a testimonial.
