KEANE DILEMMA

Telegraph:

Having earned about £25 million during his career, and with his testimonial at Old Trafford tonight set to bring in almost £2 million tax free, Roy Keane will never be down to his last penny.

However, when the Celtic midfielder returns to play against Manchester United - probably appearing for each team for 45 minutes - it might be his last game.

Keane, who has in the past criticised wealthy players for accepting testimonial matches, is expected to donate "a proportion" of the proceeds to charity.

Keane, meanwhile, will not endure another season of his fly-drive schedule. His troublesome hip takes longer to settle down after matches, not helped by commuting from Manchester to Glasgow.

"It will be either moving to Glasgow or packing it in," he said, with the air of a man who has already made the decision, though he has taken an apartment in Scotland, which could be significant.

"I will decide how I am physically, and what is best for the family," he said, but with his eldest daughter at college, Keane will be reluctant to disrupt their schooling - he has five children - by moving.

Tonight, more than 70,000 spectators - for whom there is ''only one Keano'' - will probably bring a lump to even the most unemotional of throats.
