After it was reported that Colchester MP Bob Russell has written a letter to the
police in an attempt to get Keano in trouble with the dibble. The BBC reports that Keane has already been questioned over the incident.
KEANE ALREADY QUESTIONED
The questioning took place soon after the derby where Roy received a red
card as a number of Divs reported the tackle to the Police (how bitter can you
get?)
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police told the BBC:
"We can confirm that a small number of witnesses made complaints following
the match.
"As a result, the alleged assault was crime recorded and all parties were
interviewed.
"A file of evidence was subsequently forwarded to the Crown Prosecution
Service, who, after consideration, decided there was insufficient evidence to
prosecute.
"Following the forthcoming publication of Roy Keane's autobiography, GMP
will naturally review the evidence available and consider if any further action is
necessary."
Meanwhile the FA now have a copy of the autobiography. This from The
Guardian:
The Football Association is now in a position to make a judgment on the
controversial comments from Roy Keane's autobiography but will not do so
until after the weekend.
The Guardian delivered a copy of Keane - the Autobiography to Soho Square
following the FA's reluctance to make a judgment on the Manchester United
captain. Despite the book's widespread availability yesterday, the FA had said
it would wait until the official publication date, on Saturday, before it
considered its contents. The book was bought just 500 yards from the FA
headquarters.
The FA is under pressure to make a decision about the comments in which
Keane apparently admits intent to injure a fellow player and being tapped up
by a manager.
"Until we have had time to consider it and look at it properly we are not in a
position to make any comment," said an FA spokesman. "We will give it the
consideration it merits and then make public our findings."
