Juventus sporting director Federico Cherubini has distanced the club from trying to re-sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba next summer, although he did admit they would be targeting Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland in the future.
Pogba enjoyed a fruitful spell in Turin between 2012 and 2016, making 178 appearances and registering 34 goals and 40 assists. He also won the Serie A title in each of his four seasons.
The Frenchman's form in Italy earned him a big-money move back to United, whom he initially joined as a 16-year-old in 2009, but his long-term Old Trafford future has been uncertain for some time. Pogba's contract is currently set to expire at the end of the season, with a host of top clubs - including Juventus - said to be interested in securing his services on a free transfer next summer.
His agent, Mino Raiola, fuelled these rumours recently, suggesting that Pogba would be interested in signing for the Serie A club.
However, Juventus have since hinted that they would not be interested in a deal, with Cherubini stating that the club is specifically planning to target younger players, more like Haaland, instead.
"On the market we will look for players like Haaland before the final maturity. Any investment will go in the direction of a young profile. I plan to bet on another type of player," he said - via Tutto Mercato.
With Juventus perhaps now out of the race for Pogba because he doesn't represent long-term potential, Real Madrid might have just moved into pole position. Los Blancos have long been focussed on securing the signatures of French trio Eduardo Camavinga, Kylian Mbappe and Pogba.
They made attempts to bring in the Camavinga and Mbappe this summer - one successful, one unsuccessful - and could also try to recruit Pogba on a free at the end of the campaign.

As for Juventus' pursuit of Haaland, they will face stiff competition from across Europe with Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain all linked with the free-scoring striker.
