Juventus are understood to have finally decided to push to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba once the summer transfer window opens.
I Bianconeri have been flirting with Pogba pretty much ever since he left the club back in 2016, but United have always been adamant that the Frenchman is not for sale.
However, with his current deal set to expire in 2021, the situation has changed, and talk of an exit has intensified. United do have the option to extend his contract by a further year, but that is seen as simply delaying the inevitable.
As noted by Calciomercato, both Pogba and agent Mino Raiola know of Juventus' interest, with the Italian side eager to be at the front of the queue if he becomes available.
United are not prepared to make discounts because of that option in his contract and still want to sell for around €100m, and Juventus are said to be willing to come somewhere close to that figure to get a deal done.
Juventus want Pogba to become their star of the next transfer window, but only if the deal makes sense. He earns close to €14m a year in Manchester which, on top of the €100m fee, would make this an incredibly expensive deal.
As such, the report notes that 'Pogba would have to do the rest', likely meaning the Frenchman would have to push for an exit to try and give Juventus some more leverage.
You can be certain that Raiola will do that. The agent has been clashing with United since the dawn of time, and you can bet he will leap at the chance to ruffle some Mancunian feathers once more.
Real Madrid have been tipped to join in the fun, but the financial side of things may rule them out.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is in their sights, while they still plan on moving for Kylian Mbappé in 2021, so finding €100m to spend on Pogba isn't as easy as it once was for Los Blancos.
