JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS

From The Telegraph:

Manchester United's Christmas has a rigorous look - three matches in seven days - but it does offer an opportunity to greet old friends.

On Sunday Dec 22, United visit Blackburn, where Sir Alex Ferguson's European title-winning strike force of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke lie in wait.

On Boxing Day United face a side growing under the management of Ferguson's erstwhile assistant, Steve McClaren, and with Jonathan Greening, plucked from the fringes of United's squad, displaying such form that he took part in the recent England get-together.

And, on Saturday Dec 28, Old Trafford receives Birmingham, managed by Steve Bruce, who is guaranteed a Category A welcome after his massive achievements as United captain.

Even Bruce's midfield terrier Robbie Savage can expect a bit of seasonal cheer, surely, given that he figured in the United youth team alongside David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and the Nevilles before moving to Crewe and restarting his career.

It remains to be seen what the ghosts of Christmas present can do to United. But at least the club should save a few bob on Christmas cards.
