"Just to be putting him on the pitch and having him available is a big plus.
"We've got big games, important games, coming up. These are games that we need to win, and you need your best players to do that.
"As you say, he's only had 315 minutes and that's not enough.
"Wayne Rooney is a world-class player and he's delivered in the past for England. We haven't had the opportunity too often to play him, through injury. But he's coming back from niggles and coming back to form. "I saw him last week. He scored a good goal and he's an important player for us.
"In recent games we have found a way of getting the best out of everybody. We have found a blend and balance and we have won games because of that," said McClaren.
"Wayne and Frank Lampard being back adds to our options and these are issues we will be looking at this week. We want to get the best out of all our players, Wayne included."
