Okocha last week said that it was his ambition to play for United. making the knuckle-draggers get all hot and bothered.
"I'd have like to have played for Manchester United, too, during my playing career," he snapped. "But our fans don't like that type of talk and Jay Jay has to be careful what he says .
"There is no love lost between the two sets of fans and although things have got better since I came here there is still an intense rivalry. That's fine as long as it doesn't become hatred or hostility.
"Fans can easily turn on you so he's best to be careful with that type of comment. If he wants to play for United then he needs to speak to Fergie - it's no good speaking to me.
"But Fergie would have to fancy him first and if that was the case he'd already be on his list.
"I can categorically tell you no one has tried to buy him. I've heard a lot of rumours but no one has made an inquiry or phone call to me.
"But I've been around long enough to know that doesn't mean to say there is nothing going on.
"The way transfers are done these days there could quite easily be something happening and I'd be the last to know.
"But I don't want really want that type of phone call. Jay Jay is an important player for us and I want to keep him."
