Manchester United have finally agreed a deal to sign Jadon Sancho, with the forward expected to sign his contract in the coming days.
The Borussia Dortmund man has been a target for the Red Devils as far back as 2019 with the saga dominating several transfer windows.
However, after much waiting Sancho will finally become a United player. According to Christian Falk, he will pen terms at Old Trafford in the coming days.
As reported by the Athletic, he will cost United an initial €85m (£72.6m), a fee that will make him the second most expensive English player in history behind new teammate Harry Maguire who cost £80m back in 2019.
Sancho's price-tag has long been a roadblock in negotiations but as 90min reported earlier this summer United were keen to avoid a repeat of the fraught discussions that took place in previous windows. Therefore, this time around they have reached Dortmund's asking price quickly.
Personal terms with Sancho have long been agreed. 90min understands he will earn in the region of £250,000-per-week.
The forward is currently with England's Euro 2020 squad and although Gareth Southgate has not afforded him much playing time, there is no doubting his talent. Sancho made just shy of 150 appearances for BVB in all competitions despite being just 21.
During that time he has scored 50 goals and also provided 64 assists. The best display of his career so far came during the 2019/20 campaign where he managed 17 goals and 17 assists in the Bundesliga.
The arrival of Sancho is a significant boost for United, who finished 12 points off champions Manchester City last term. They are not done strengthening their squad yet either. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to bring in a centre back to partner Maguire, as there are still concerns about Victor Lindelof. A defensive midfielder is also on his wishlist.
