Arsene is unhappy with Valencia’s tactics:
“When it was 2-1 there it was no game any more because they
spoilt the game,
"They laid down and stayed down and there was no fluency, it
was difficult to play football,
"I would like to check how many minutes the ball was in play
from 2-1 onwards.
"We are very disappointed. We were on top of the game in the
first half but didn't take advantage of it.
"Valencia had one shot on goal in the first half and we
found ourselves 1-0 down at half-time. Maybe we lost the
game when we got it back to 1-1 because we dropped too much
physically.
"We didn't create any more chances and Valencia were
stronger physically than us - a reversal of the first half.
"When you don't qualify everyone is responsible, the
manager, the players and the coaching staff, we are all in
the same boat. But we have nothing to be ashamed of tonight
- it was an unfortunate loss. We didn't deserve to lose
tonight and this was the only game we lost.
"It is a big disappointment and the players are down. We
need to be mentally tough but I have confidence in the
strength of my team and we'll do that."
And a further blow to his double hopes are the injuries to
Vieira and Campbell.
"They are both on the treatment table and we don't know how
they are going to react.
"Pat and Sol suffered a little setback and we'll have to see
how they react on Thursday and Friday.”
