IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK
“I've waited a long, long time for that. I can't put into words the club's support and the fans' support.
“They've had patience with me and the gaffer's always been good with me. He just told me to take my time and in the end it's paid off.
“To celebrate with the fans after scoring has been one of my aims over the past few years. In my dreams it was at Old Trafford, but that doesn't matter.
“Louis Saha put the goal on a plate for me after Michael Carrick had tried before. I should have scored earlier but the thoughts of whether I'd ever score again were running through my mind.
“Even at the second attempt I was thinking ‘Is he going to come and save it?' Thankfully it went in. That's that over and done with and I can look forward again now.
“That's one on the board. That was the important one for me.
"You can see the depth of the squad. I think five or six players were missing through injury, still we won comfortably.
"We know there's about 20-25 players who want to be playing every week, so the manager has to make a decision about leaving players out. It's a great position to be in.
"It's been a really good start. We're young and we've got a fresh squad.
"We've had the experience of losing for the past couple of years, and we've lost together and that's put good hunger back into the team while the spirit is fantastic."
