Inverness's initial proposal to use Pittodrie, in a groundshare agreement with Aberdeen, failed to convince a meeting of the 12 SPL clubs at the beginning of June, when they fell one elusive vote short of the eight needed to succeed.
The two Edinburgh clubs, Hibernian and Hearts, then called for the issue to be re-examined at a second meeting at Hampden Park yesterday and the result was a 10-2 vote in favour of Inverness.
The decision means that the SPL football will be played in the Highlands for the first time in its history.
Partick Thistle, who finished bottom now face relegation, having once thought themselves safe, although they may appeal against the decision to the Scottish Football Association.
