INJURIES LEAVE UNITED LIGHT

United's victory last night has come at a price with Ji-Sung Park out for three months after injuring ankle ligaments in training while Ryan Giggs is expected to be out for about three weeks after limping off with a hamstring injury. Despite that Ferguson remained upbeat after the win:

"The injuries are a blow - but for me, Scholes was the man of the match. He is just fantastic, and his passing won us the game.

"Wayne Rooney showed he needed a game, but Scholes at 31 has phenomenal composure and passing awareness."

"Solskjaer's goal was a pure goalscorer's goal," said Ferguson. "He's only been on the pitch for 15 minutes but he's always likely to get us a goal."

Ferguson was less pleased with his defence after some careless play in the build-up to both Celtic goals.

He added: "We suffered from a lack of concentration. We went 1-0 down and this encouraged Celtic. In fairness it made it one hell of a game.

"We did fantastic to come back to 2-1 but we then gave away a slack goal.

"We could have scored more but for some slack finishing and three fantastic saves. But I am happy with the three points."
