IMUSA STAND FIRM

This from the MEN on IMUSA's view of the latest Glazer bid and plans for Sunday.

A scheduled Independent Manchester United Supporters Association meeting last night was held amid an atmosphere of defiance after Malcolm Glazer's £800million bid for the Old Trafford club.

Supporters are determined to fight off the American's latest advances and scoffed at reports of Glazer's attempt to win them over by offering manager Sir Alex Ferguson a £20million summer transfer kitty.

"After so many months of to-ing and fro-ing, if that is the best he can come up with I suggest he gets himself some new PR advisors," said IMUSA chairman Jules Spencer.

"What does he think £20million is going to buy? It's two-thirds of the fee the present board spent on Wayne Rooney.

"If he really believes something like that is going to win the fans over, he is living in a dream world."

Plans are being finalised for a joint demonstration at Old Trafford and the Millennium Stadium on Sunday to coincide with United's FA Cup semi-final with Newcastle.

Organisers are appealing to local fans not attending the game to congregate on Chester Road, close to the stadium, at 12noon.
