"It is not about getting into the Cup final team.
"It is about playing for your pride and the badge of Manchester United. You have to play well every time you pull on a shirt.
"Yesterday we didn't play at the right pace and tempo for long enough. We produced some decent stuff in a five-minute spell near the end but we have to maintain it for a lot longer than that.
"We have Blackburn next week and they have hit a decent run of form, so that will be a tough match, and then we play Chelsea who we really have to beat."
About missing a chance on saturday: "I was disappointed not to get the connection but it just shows I need some more match practice.
"I have played a few times recently but there is still a lack of sharpness.
"After the operation, this season was always going to be about rehabilitation and recovery but hopefully you will see a difference next year."
