Parents have started videoing their children's graves to catch thieves who have been taking mementoes from a memorial garden in Merseyside.
Toys, flowers and guardian angels have all disappeared from Landican Cemetery in Wirral.
Funeral director Sue McClean, who helped set up the garden, told BBC Radio Merseyside many parents were upset.
"A lot of them feel that they are giving something to the children. Extra attention'
"And around birthdays and Christmas you'll find lots of things appearing, which are from brothers and sisters as well as their parents, so it is very important to them."
Ms McClean said that in some cases mementoes that were concreted to the childrens' graves had been scraped off.
Sergeant Phil Pilkington, from Merseyside Police, said they were taking the thefts very seriously.
"We've stepped up patrols of the area, and will be giving the graveyard extra attention over the next few weeks.
"We would urge anyone with information about these thefts to contact us immediately."
