I DON'T MIND

Nicky Butt knows it isn't going to be easy to get back in the starting line up at United however as he has proved before he isn't scared of the challenge.

"It is going to be very difficult getting back into the United team," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"No matter who has been playing in the midfield this season they have done well. Phil Neville has been brilliant when he's played there. Quinton Fortune also had a good spell in the centre until he broke his leg. Then Roy Keane, Seba Veron and Paul Scholes have been excellent.

"In the wider roles there's been David Beckham and Ryan Giggs. Even Ole Solskjaer has done a great job at times in that wide midfield role. When you list players like that it really does sound a daunting task!"

The story of his career

"United's midfield has always been packed with top class players," he continued.

"It is not a new situation for me. I've had a fight on all through my Old Trafford career. We all have. It has always been hard but things always seem to work out and you get your fair quota of
games.

"It is hard at the moment but you just have to get on with it. I'll bide my time and something will happen, it always does. The manager might choose to freshen things up with the number of matches we have coming up. I had been out for three months and I knew I wouldn't walk back
into the team.

"But my ankle problem is behind me and hopefully somewhere down the line I will get a game."
