GILL LOVES CARLOS
David Gill reckons that Carlos Queiroz returning to OT will put a new spark of life in to the club. He said to the MEN
'Carlos had a very big impact in the year he was with us,'
'We won the league and if you speak to the players individually, a number of
them benefited from his coaching skills and innovations.
'He left us on a high and went away for a year and albeit it wasn't that
satisfactory for him in that he didn't win any trophies in Madrid, he will have
gained from the experience and we can only benefit from it.'
So how much will the boss benefit?
'Alex will be the first to say he needs a top right-hand man because running a
football club as big as Manchester United is so huge,' he said.
'It wasn't for the want of trying that we didn't get someone in last year because
Alex was scouring Europe and speaking to everyone about who would be a good right hand man, so to get Carlos back was great.
'He has the benefit of having that European flavour. He speaks four languages
and both the manager and players - as a group and individuals - will benefit from Carlos returning.
"Look at Ronaldo at 19. He's had a fantastic first season but I am sure he will
benefit from having a Portuguese assistant manager working with him."
