GILL EXPANDS ON GLAZER FAMILY MEETING

Last updated : 27 July 2004 By editor

"It was very social. We were just talking about the game. Malcolm Glazer wasn't there. It was two of the brothers who I know and family members. They enjoyed the game. It was just a polite chat to say hello. We arranged the tickets and they like football. They are interested in the game. I don't think we will be seeing Malcolm. There was no business talk at all.

"I think they (Joel and Avie) have been impressed. They saw the pull of United at the game. They have been down to Nike Town in Chicago and have seen our shirts being sold and things like that. They were impressed with that and the shop even ran out of shirts because the demand was too great. So that was fantastic.

"I have spoken to them both three or four times now. They rang me up an hour or two before they announce they are increasing their shareholding out of courtesy. It was just a very friendly conversation."

Either Gill can’t see it or, much more likely, he is keeping his cards close to his chest but there is an awful lot to worry about in what he said. If you are worried about the consequences of a takeover then join Shareholders United and IMUSA. Help to keep the club ‘Not for Sale’.
