Despite inconsistent form for much of the season, Ryan Giggs
believes that this could still prove to be one of the best
campaigns he has ever been involved in:
GIGGS – THIS COULD BE THE GREATEST
"It could be one of the best seasons of my career, United
could win two trophies and Wales could be almost certain of
qualifying for the finals of a major tournament,
"It could also be one of the greatest wins of a league that
I have been involved with because we were so far behind
Arsenal not only in points but form too. We have managed to
turn that around and put the pressure on them just at this
time."
Giggs feels that a successful season will help him, and
others, to forget his erratic form:
"If we do achieve everything we are aiming at, all the
criticism I took earlier in the season would all be
forgotten.
"My form wasn't as good as it had been in the past before
Christmas, but afterwards I feel I have done really well.
"Around that time the manager left me out of a few games and
I think freshness was definitely an issue because I had
played virtually every game, more games than I've ever
played and I suppose that was something I wasn't used to.
"I was given a couple of games' rest and since then I have
been a lot better and a lot fresher.
"I believe in my own ability, I didn't work on anything
particular, it was just a case that the manager usually
chops and changes the team about but we'd had so many
injuries before Christmas that we went 10 games with
virtually the same players, the same 14 or 15 lads, because
we had so many injuries."
