Manchester United drew level with Manchester City at the top of the table last night after City went down at Goodison Park and the Reds beat Stoke City at Old Trafford.
Gibson, who joined Everton in mid-January, did his old club a huge favour after driving in his first goal for the Toffees on 60 minutes.
City's third defeat of the season saw United join them on 54 points at the top of the table.
