Gary Neville, "What happened at the end was the biggest kick up the backside we could possibly have wished for. The whole evening was tough from start to finish but from the last 20 minutes to the walk round at the end of the match, it felt as low as it could possibly get in your own stadium.
"I totally understand why the fans weren't there at the end. They come every week, give so much and at times this season we have not done the business for them. It was a very empty and lonely feeling.
"For Manchester United, its players, fans and manager to stand in tunnel formation accepting someone else as champions, it is something that goes deep. You do not forget moments like that.
"We have no God-given right to win anything, but as players, we are at this club for a reason - to earn the right to win trophies. The fans have become accustomed to us winning things over the last 12 years and this season we have fallen short of expectations."
