The Sun reports that United will not release Ryan Giggs on Monday to link up
with the Welsh squad. Instead he will have to wait until Wednesday as United
invoke the four-day rule.
FOUR-DAY FERGIE
A spokesman from Manchester United confirmed: "Following the game against
Middlesbrough, our players need to be rested. In accordance with regulations,
Ryan Giggs will report four days before the international."
And an FAW insider said: "We received a fax from Manchester United to let us
know the four-day rule would come into effect.
"We would have preferred to have Ryan for a longer time but it's Manchester
United's right to invoke the rules and we have to respect that."
The paper claims that the rest of United's international players will be free to link up with their national squads on the Monday. Although even by United's
standards that does seem strange.
