Jonny Evans, "It is surprising how things can turn out in football. My aim at Antwerp was to play my way out of there. I wanted to show I was too good for that level and then I could move on. Thankfully, Lawrie Sanchez gave me a chance to play in one of the biggest internationals of the season against Spain.
"I took my chance and I have been involved ever since. That gave me a platform to play in the Championship with Sunderland, and things went well from there as well. It was a great season for me.
"Once Sir Alex says you are staying, you stay - it is as simple as that. I am a Manchester United fan. I want them to be the best and be lifting as many trophies as possible at the end of the season. If I can be lifting them as well it would be just superb."
