"I've got almost 20 players away on international duty and you just have to hope that they come back without any injuries," Sir Alex told the official site. "It's something you have to accept. It's international fortnight and they are important qualifying games. I have to accept that. I have always said that the qualifying matches are the important ones. The part I can't get around are the friendly games, and I never will.
"I won't ever understand them because I don't think you get anything out of them."
Fergie points to Saha and the injuries he picks up with the French team as an example:
"I don't know what they do there. I don't understand it. It's not helping Louis that's for sure. His career has been put in a stop position as far as our club is concerned. That's no good for his career here or at international level.
"Internationals can deplete your squad and it does worry you. We’ve had some unfortunate situations down the years. But there isn't much you can do other than keep your fingers crossed and hope the players come back unscathed.
"I've told some of the staff to have a break during the international break - we can let Scholesy take training himself!"
