He adds:
"Maybe the bar has been raised again in terms of the points you need to win the Premiership.
"It's quite feasible to say we lost the league in the first game this season against Chelsea. It is incredible they have conceded so few goals. They've won the title because they've been difficult to beat.
"The midfield is an area we're looking at all the time. But we think Roy can play for another two years. We lost Fletcher at a bad time this season because he was playing really well. He's back in now and I'd be surprised if he didn't stay in.
"We're going through a period where we're just not putting the ball in the net in league games. I don't understand it because we have the players who can score and, in the Cup, we've been scoring well.
"We've usually made steady progress through the season, but we need to start better next season.
"That's why our players are going to start pre-season training much earlier. Next season is very important to us. It could even be a blessing in disguise to have a Champions League qualifying tie."
