FERGIE POST MATCH

Penalty decisions
"The referee was very quick to give their penalty. But it was a great game of football. I’ve just had a look at them now on the television replays. I think with Fulham’s penalty, the player overran it. There was a slight brush from Blanc but it was very, very soft. I don’t think it was a penalty. It’s clear that we should have had a penalty. The one where it was going through to Scholes, the player handled it and he has prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity. It was a clear penalty kick to me."

Enjoying the game
"I did enjoy it in a way because I knew that both teams were trying to win in the second half. I thought the first half was very static – there was nothing really happening in the match. We seemed to be in a comfort zone of nice easy football, careful football without any risk to it. And I think when they scored it made the second half a terrific match."

Ole's strike
"It was a typical Solskjaer goal."

Barthez putting off Malbranque
"It’s experience. He’s just using his experience and professionalism. Whether it had the desired effect, I don’t know. He got a booking for it anyway."

Praise for Fulham
"I think they’re a very good side. Their record here this season is exceptionally good. They are very difficult to beat. It’s not a bad result for us. We had to make changes for the game today. All the players in our team – or most of them anyway – have had international games in midweek. Fulham had only one player on international duty. It does make a difference that. They were very fresh looking, and they are a very good side. I was impressed with them."

Injury worries for Olympiakos
"Butt’s got a chance, but Van Nistelrooy? No. We’ve got to sort it out. There is no point in him (Ruud) coming back and playing on it semi-fit, because it will just tighten up again. It’s not a pull but he keeps playing and he keeps feeling his hamstring tighten. We want to cure it and get him back so he stays back."

Fergie salutes Giggs
"To play 500 games, bearing in mind he has missed a lot of football with his hamstring injuries over the years, is fantastic. But Ryan is a model person. Since he was a kid he has always led his life the right way, he has seen the benefit of that. We have seen some real mature performances from him this season, again this afternoon in the second half."
