Benitez:
"It is very important that you see how other teams in other countries go about their business.
"I went to Manchester and spent a lot of time with Steve McClaren, who at the time was assistant to Alex Ferguson.
"I talked to him every day and discovered just what a good coach he is.
"During the same year I also spent time at Tottenham and Lilleshall as well as in Italy with Juventus and Fiorentina.
"Hopefully I can put all that experience to good use with Liverpool.
"I have remained good friends with Steve as a result of my time in Manchester.
"One of the first things I intend to do is talk to him because it's important that I learn all I can about the Premier League."
