The BBC report:
‘Sir Alex Ferguson is set to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award on Tuesday for his services to football. The Manchester United manager will be honoured at the 2005 HMV Football Extravaganza in London.
‘The Scot follows Stanley Matthews, Bobby Robson and Bobby Charlton as the fourth knight to receive the honour. John Charles was the first person to win the Football Extravaganza award in 1997 and the most recent recipient was Kenny Dalglish, 12 months ago.’
