Telegraph:
‘Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is determined to hold on to Ruud van Nistelrooy despite recent suggestions that the Dutch striker is ready to walk out next summer.
‘Ferguson's hopes of keeping his squad intact appeared to have been left in disarray by Roy Keane's claim that he would be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season and comments attributed to Van Nistelrooy's agent, Rodger Linse, at the weekend pointing towards a move to Real Madrid for the Dutch striker.
‘Van Nistelrooy, whose £90,000-a-week contract ties him to United until June 2008, has returned to form with seven goals in as many Premiership games after being dogged by injury problems last season.
‘However, rumours of his disillusionment at Old Trafford have persisted since a move to Real was first mooted almost 18 months ago and the Spanish club are understood to have made several attempts to persuade United to part with the 29-year-old.’
