The Prime Minister's favourite football manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has
famously rallied people to "unite against the press". Presumably this does not
include the Guardian-owned Manchester Evening News. The daily newspaper
meekly barred Michael Crick, author of The Boss: The Many Sides of Alex
Ferguson, from access to its vast press cuttings on its once
all-conquering local football hero.
