…while a football club still suffers the fall out of their folly. Cheers.
The Telegraph reports:
‘Sir Alex Ferguson has splashed out on a yearling son of Rock Of Gibraltar, the stallion at the centre of his bitter dispute with John Magnier, head of the Coolmore bloodstock empire. The colt was bought on behalf of Ferguson by bloodstock agent Charlie Gordon-Watson at the recent Newmarket Sales.
‘Ferguson's purchase of the yearling can be interpreted as closing the book on the very public row with Magnier, a former shareholder in Manchester United. As Ferguson said yesterday "Grown-up men move on."
‘While Ferguson is happy to be seen supporting Magnier's stallion, there is definitely cold-headed Scottish thinking behind the purchase. He says: "I think he [Rock Of Gibraltar] is going to be a fantastic stallion."’
