"Patience is vital," Fergie told the club's official site after the match.
"We still had 45 minutes to play. The important thing was to keep the rhythm and tempo of our game.
"The speed of our game was really terrific.
"Full marks to the lads, they did very, very well today. I think it's probably our best 90 minutes of the season so far.
"I think the players have got the legs now to play 90 minutes like they did today.
"There were great signs today and also at Blackburn.
"There's a great spirit in the team, they all worked hard for each other and defended very well in both games."
