FANS PLAN PROTEST OVER TROPHY PRESENTATION

Furious Manchester United fans are threatening to stage a
sit-in at Goodison Park if the Premiership trophy is not
presented in front of the crowd on Sunday.

Everton officials have said they will not allow Manchester
United to receive the trophy on the pitch because of
concerns about crowd safety.

But the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association
(IMUSA) said this was the final straw for match-going fans.
“In a season where our interests seem to have come last
every time, this is really a slap in the face,” said IMUSA
chairman Mark Longden.

“We have played a match on every day of the week and kicked
off at 16 different times – with just 10 out of a possible
41 League and Cup games kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday.

“To have watched our team play such great football and win
the league at a canter, then be told we cannot see them
receiving the trophy, is the final straw and we will not
accept it.

“Manchester United fans will remain in their seats after the
final whistle on Sunday until we see our team receive the
trophy – and we will stay there as long as it takes.”

Around 3,000 Manchester United supporters will be inside
Goodison for the final game of the season.
