The Peoples Person Web-site has reminded us of an intriguing piece of history from back in 2009 when United were due to lock horns with Arsenal in the semi-final of the Champions League.
Fabregas waxed lyrical about United and declared openly to the News of the World that “I’m a massive Man United fan".
And one would hope that Fabregas’ personality is not a whimsical one - making that opinion of United still valid from back in 2009 when he spoke to the News of the World.
“I have no problem saying United are one of the best clubs in the world – even though I want to beat them. They are the best side in the world at the moment – a top, top side and we respect them a lot.”
“Rooney and Ronaldo are amazing. I really admire them for what they do. I am a big fan of both of them. You can expect just about anything from them and they always make a difference in games. Look at Ronaldo against Porto – what a goal! It was one of the best goals I’ve seen.”
United still have one half of that devastating partnership, and if smoke signals were to be believed, then it could be a possibility again. Rooney & Ronaldo...and Fabregas.
Even though the Ronaldo prospect has been fading by the week, there is now the prospect for Fabregas of getting back in tandem with an old team mate and currently the Premiership's deadliest striker for the last two years - Robin Van Persie.
