EUROPE THE PRIORITY (AT THE MOMENT)

"It [the Champions' League] is a tournament we feel we haven't won enough and it is one we are gearing ourselves up for each year whilst also trying to win our domestic league. We are trying to stay in the slipstream of Chelsea for when they do slip-up.

"It's only stating the obvious, too, that we're still in October, so it would be silly to think of them as champions already. But they're relentless at the moment. Right now we're just trying to stay within their slipstream, hoping they slip up."

"Yes, at this moment in time it is obvious. Unless Chelsea start dropping points they are in a very strong position.

"We want to win the group but if you look at the quality in the tournament maybe that doesn't mean a lot.

"Last season Real Madrid, ourselves and Barcelona finished second, the quality is superb and that is why this tournament is such an attraction.

"You have more chance of winning the Champions League if you are fresh rather than having battled through the Premiership, then need to try and win a quarter-final, semi-final and final.

"In some countries like Portugal and France, teams get help by being allowed to play on Friday nights.

"It is difficult to do that in England. At this time of year you play two games a week nearly every week and you also have the internationals. There is not much leeway for moving fixtures in our country."
