Rennes defender Julien Escude is refusing to train with his team-mates in a
bid to force the Breton club's hand on a transfer deal with Manchester United.
He hopes this will make his proposed move to United a little quicker. He said:

'I told them on July 19 that I wanted to go. I'm not going to change my
decision.' he said. 'I am here for training but I am working alone, waiting for
the next events to happen.

'Since I joined Rennes I have never complained, I have always worked
without saying a word. In the past month I took part in all the training sessions
as well as the friendlies we've played.

'But now I am tired. I see that things are not moving fast. It annoys me to act
this way but I am trying to accelerate things.'

While the club are still complaining about United's way of approaching
players. This from Daily soccer:

Tackled on the affair here Thursday Rennes coach Philippe Bergeroo said:

"He refused to train with the squad. I won't be including him in the team to
play Guingamp on Saturday."

He went on to criticise United for its "offhand" attitude.

"I know the system well - I know what these big clubs like Manchester are
capable of doing with their offhand approach like first making contact with the
player two or three months before his club," he said.

"That's a little annoying to me."

Bergeroo said he wanted the football authorities to look into cases like this,
claiming that "big clubs have the right to contact players first. Little clubs don't
have the right to say anything."

Escude is desperate to leave the low achieving French club.

"I hope something good will come out of this meeting. I've done my time at
Rennes and I can't let such a good opportunity pass me by," said the player
after their scoreless draw against Troyes last Saturday.
