The following statement has been released by the FA Premier League
regarding planned disruptions to trains this season.
DON'T FORGET TO CHECK THE TIMETABLE
"The following information is provided to supporters who need to use the West
Coast Main Line route and refers to all services that run in and out of London
Euston via Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Crewe, up to Carlisle.
This will also include services to North Wales.
The main line, at two locations, will be upgraded on weekends between 5
August 2002 and 8 December 2002. This will mean the total closure of
services between Hemel Hempstead and Milton Keynes, and between
Wolverhampton and Stafford.
Inevitably this will result in severe delays to journeys to and from the North.
The British Transport Police, in partnership with Virgin Trains, Silverlink Trains
and Railtrack, recommend that the use of these services is not to be taken
lightly and that no reliance should be placed on the restricted services to
arrive in time for kick-off."
