Martin Edwards, former United chairman and chief executive, is said to have
peered under a toilet cubicle at a health club.
DIRTY OLD MAN
The woman, who was in the lavatory at the time, complained to staff.
A source said: "Apparently Edwards just walked past the health club reception
desk and straight into the ladies toilets. They are round a corner and quite
hidden away with the gents next door. The woman, who was in her 40s, was
very distressed."
Asked about the matter yesterday, he said: "I have nothing at all to say." The
57-year-old millionaire, who has been linked with a number of women, later
left his £900,000 home in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in a taxi.
Yesterday's claims centre round four-star Mottram Hall, near Prestbury,
Cheshire, which is regularly used by United players.
It is not clear whether Edwards is a paid-up member. The source said: "He is
quite a regular visitor."
Owners De Vere Hotel Group said yesterday: "Police are investigating
allegations of a Peeping Tom incident at Mottram Hall.
"We treat allegations such as this very seriously and are helping police with
their inquiries. While the investigation is taking place, we cannot comment
further."
Police said: "We confirm a 57-year-old man attended Wilmslow police station
voluntarily, not under arrest, concerning an allegation of improper behaviour
at Mottram Hall on Saturday, August 17."
Let's see how he squirms out of this one.
