"It's all about how happy you feel when you wake up each morning and whether you feel good about yourself, but at the moment I am enjoying things," Schmeichel told the MEN.
"I have been playing to the level I expect to perform at and so far things have been really good for me. It hasn't been easy and there has been a lot of hard work; perhaps harder than ever before. Christmas was a mad period for us, with five games played in just 13 days, and that was a lot of football having to be played. But I felt I came through that quite well and was happy with how I performed."
"At the end of the day, when you get to my age of course, you play for the team but you also play a lot for yourself. It is for your own enjoyment and I can honestly say I am enjoying myself now more than ever. There is still pressure because we have a manager who really, really wants to move this club, as do the board of directors. But I don't really feel that pressure. I'm just really happy that I can contribute and play here."
