DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN

"We have got to think of the team on Wednesday so Paul Scholes has to make sure he doesn't get booked, that's without question, and if he stays on his feet and tackles properly then he won't have a problem.

"The advice to him the other night in the first leg was not to slide into tackles because that's where he gets all his bookings. In Europe, let's be honest, they don't accept sliding in.

"Paul more than anyone deserves a European final after missing out in 1999 and we are all hoping that's the case. If he keeps his calm during the game then he'll be alright, I'm sure of that.

"He made some good tackles in the first game, but you can't say to a player in a European Cup semi-final 'don't tackle'.

"He played the game the right way in the first leg and the only time he has a problem is when he slides in.

"It's not filthy play or violent conduct - it's just that he slides in and foreign referees don't seem to accept it.

"I don't see any benefit to Milan of trying to get him booked because the second leg will already be in process and only one team will go to the final."
