Brazil's World Cup winning captain Cafu is talking up a move to United but it could just be a nudge towards Sensi, Roma's chairman, to give him a new contract.
Cafu claims United have made several attempts to lure him from Italy and may well succeed next summer if he becomes a free agent.
"United have been chasing me hard for a long time and that also includes recent contact," says the South American.
"They made it clear they are waiting for me to sign in the summer when I will be a free agent. I have turned down many lucrative offers from England in the past but this is different. The interest of a club with such terrific ambition and with such a prestigious history makes me happy.
Show me the money!
"The next contract I sign will probably be my last.
"I simply cannot afford to make any mistakes, so I will think very carefully before I make any decisions. Once I know what Roma are offering - if anything - then I will evaluate all the advantages and disadvantages of a move to Manchester United.
"By New Year I will decide whether I am going to England or staying in Rome. Roma cannot forget that next June I will be free to do what I like."
