Sir Alex Ferguson has decided that the pursuit for a piece of silverware this season is more important than the financial gain of finishing second in the league. Speaking ahead of this weekend's semi final he said:
"We have no chance in the league because
"And while we want to finish second, winning the FA Cup is far more important."
He also defended his much criticised team selection last Saturday.
"Last Saturday was a shock to us all," he said.
"The team I picked wouldn't have mattered if we had won, it only became an issue because we lost.
"I did leave Ruud, Wayne and Cristiano out but people forget against
"I have to take the long-term view and I wanted everybody fit for the semi-final."
