CRYSTAL PALACE TRY TO BAN “CANTONA DAY”

Nb. Sadly, this is NOT a wind-up.

RI has learnt that the proposed Cantona Day set to be staged by United fans at Selhurst Park on Saturday in honour of the greatest French footballer that the world has ever seen, has met with disapproval from Palace officials.

Apparently, Crystal Palace have warned that any Reds turning up at Selhurst wearing a Cantona mask will be refused entry, and any Reds wearing them in the ground will be ejected.

Quite how such moves can be legal is anyone’s guess and if they really think it’s going to achieve anything than making United fans all the more determined to laud Cantona to the heavens on Saturday then they are clearly f*ckwits of the highest order.

RI has also learnt that a Palace fanzine editor has apparently aligned himself with the fascist stance his club have taken in squealing “United fans clearly don’t appreciate how offensive them wearing Cantona masks would be.”

See you down there folks, I’ll be the one who looks like Eric.

PS. United's website confirms the above thus:

United fans warned over mask plans

Crystal Palace have confirmed that "any supporters visiting Selhurst Park on Saturday will not gain admission to the stadium or will be ejected from the ground in possession of any kind of face mask."

The statement comes in response to rumours that United's travelling contingent had planned to designate the day as an Eric Cantona tribute - including the possibility of wearing rubber Cantona masks.
