Cristiano Ronaldo's family have thanked Liverpool fans for the support they showed during the 4-0 win over Manchester United at Anfield.
Ronaldo was missing from United's squad after announcing on Monday night the passing of one of his and girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez's twin babies.
There has been a widespread outpouring of emotion and support for Ronaldo since, and those sentiments were on display on Merseyside as supporters of both Liverpool and United stood up and applauded in the seventh minute of the game - referencing Ronaldo's iconic shirt number.
There was also a rousing rendition of Liverpool's 'You'll Never Walk Alone' anthem ringing around the stadium.
Acknowledging the gesture of Liverpool's fans, Ronaldo's sister Elma wrote on social media, "Thank you for this Liverpool. We will never forget what you did today," while older sister Katia said the support was "Way beyond football."
Earlier in the day, Ronaldo's mother Dolores had quoted a passage of the Bible in Portuguese that read: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your way acknowledge Him And he shall direct your Paths."
Ronaldo was pictured leaving Carrington's training ground on Wednesday but there's currently no indication of when he'll return to action for United.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick had stated before the Liverpool defeat that everybody at the club was 'behind' Ronaldo and said the thoughts of everybody at the club were with the Portuguese superstar and his family.
